My youngest son and his girlfriend recently returned from a trip to Spain, where I connected them with private guides from one of our preferred suppliers, Made For Spain. They kindly offered to write a blog article about their experience. Here is what they had to say:

We could not have been happier with our experience from Made for Spain. Carles and David, our guides, were unbelievable. Immediately upon meeting them, we knew we were not only in excellent hands, but we felt comfortable, excited and at ease. 

Our trip to Montserrat was informative and felt incredibly exclusive. Carles gave us a wonderful history of Barcelona, stopping to show us a hidden Antoni Gaudi, Cripta Guell … something that most travelers never find! He then brought us into the chapel at Montserrat to see the boys choir sing (front row!). He filled the morning with facts and interesting anecdotes, never skipping a beat! Carles was an absolute pro at his job — engaging, smart and so much fun to be around. 

Then we were off to the Penedes region! David, our host at the Huguet winery, was an absolute GEM. His unique way of explaining the history of the vineyard, of cava and of vermouth was completely unforgettable. We had the entire vineyard (from vines, to cellar to tasting room) to ourselves — it was quite special! After exploring the vineyard, we ate a wonderful meal, all authentic Catalan cuisine, with excellent wine and cava pairings. Conversation with David was lovely — interesting, thoughtful and beyond just the background of the wines we were drinking. David also gave us several culinary suggestions for the rest of our trip, and we absolutely plan on staying in touch with him. It is clear he has such a passion for what he does and the ways in which his industry can bring joy into the lives of others, especially ours!

We would absolutely recommend both these tours (but better together!) to anyone visiting Barcelona. They were unique, special, informative and absolutely unforgettable. Thank you Made For Spain!!!
